Odd Socks Day 2026 is Monday 16 November. This assembly structure helps schools connect the visible fun of odd socks with belonging, difference and safe reporting.
Today we are wearing odd socks to mark the start of Anti-Bullying Week. Odd socks are a simple way to show that people do not have to be the same to belong. This year the theme is Break the Silence, so we are also thinking about what makes it easier to ask for help.
Sometimes bullying continues because people stay quiet. They may feel worried, embarrassed or unsure what will happen next. Breaking the silence does not mean shouting about private things. It means knowing who you can speak to and trusting that adults will listen carefully.
Use two fictional examples: a repeated nickname that hurts, and a group message where someone is being left out. Ask pupils what a safe friend could do and what a trusted adult could do.
Close by naming the school reporting route. Repeat it slowly. Then ask pupils to remember one sentence: I need help with something that is happening to me or someone else.
For older pupils, add a reminder that saving evidence and asking for help is different from escalating a situation publicly.
After the assembly, give teachers a short discussion prompt so the message moves into classrooms. Ask pupils: what makes it hard to ask for help, and what would make it easier in our school?
